UCSF Healthforce Center’s Policy Brief Examines Roles of Community Health Workers in California

The Healthforce Center at the University of California at San Francisco has released a policy brief examining the impact of community health workers (CHW) and promotores de salud in community-based and clinical care settings. The brief includes “an overview of CHW/promotore definition and scope of work,” “historical context for the emergence of these health professionals,” and “a snapshot of evidence and impact.” In addition, it discusses state laws and policies that impact these professionals.
