Impacts of Cesarean Delivery on Childhood Asthma

Pediatric and Perinatal Epidemiology contains an article in its September 2018 edition which conducted a meta-analysis of the effects of caesarean delivery and sex on asthma in children ages 2 through 6. In addition, researchers compared their conclusions with previously published results. In the study, researchers found “caesarean delivery was associated with… higher asthma risk among girls.” They concluded “higher, but imprecise, estimates for females… should motivate investigators to examine sex-specific associations for caesarean delivery and asthma.”
