Center for Cities + Schools Releases Brief on School Facilities and Equity

The University of California Berkeley’s Center for Cities + Schools has released a policy brief that examines “how and why the conditions and qualities of public school facilities affect education and community equity.” Education Equity Requires Modern School Facilities describes how school facility conditions – some of which can create poor indoor air quality and affect people with asthma — impact education equity, how school facilities are vital community assets, and how facility inequity is built into the public education system. It also details how inequities increase when disaster strikes and how low-income school districts can’t make the necessary changes alone.
