The Environmental Protection Agency is making $1 million in grant funding available to states to help local environmental justice communities address COVID-19 concerns faced by low-income and minority communities. Funding can be used to support public education, training and emergency planning. Projects could include sharing information, addressing increased exposure of residents, or training community health workers. Eligibility is limited to states, US territories, or commonwealths; an instrumentality of the state; federally recognized tribal governments; and local governments, including cities, towns, municipalities, and counties. Five grants of approximately $200,000 will be awarded each for up to a two-year funding period. All interested applicants must submit proposal packages on or before June 30th.
