California Breathing is the California Department of Public Health’s state asthma program. California Breathing conducts asthma surveillance by collecting and analyzing data from multiple sources to describe the burden of asthma across the state.

Data analyzed by California Breathing are made available to the public via the County Asthma Data Tool, California Health and Human Services (CHHS) Open Data Portal, Let’s Get Healthy California website, and custom data reports.

Stakeholders may use these data to achieve a variety of goals, such as improving delivery and accessibility of asthma care and promoting policies and practices that prevent the worsening of asthma and the onset of new asthma.
