2022 Community Action to Fight Asthma (CAFA) Virtual Summit on June 14-15th

We’re pleased to announce the upcoming 2022 Community Action to Fight Asthma (CAFA) Virtual Summit on June 14-15, 2022.

The purpose of the CAFA Network is to bring together asthma stakeholders across California for peer learning and collective action on a comprehensive range of policy priorities, both clinical and environmental. Participation is open to any individual or organization working to reduce the burden of asthma in California. This may include advocates, Community Health Workers, clinicians, health educators, or anyone working on asthma in a health department, health plan, hospital, clinic, environmental health or justice organization, social justice organization, healthy housing organization.

The Summit will be held on Zoom on June 14th and 15th, from 9-12:30 each day.

Day 1 will feature Dr. Nicolas M. Oreskovic, with Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, presenting Unexpected Risks of COVID-19 on Asthma Control in Children. Following the presentation and Q & A, we’ll have a peer discussion about how your work on asthma has been shaped by the pandemic. Later in the morning, we’ll have peer breakout groups to discuss key topics related to asthma, such as schools, housing, and outdoor air quality.

Day 2 will feature a panel presentation on Asthma and Climate Change Policy. Topics will include transportation policy, building decarbonization, wildfires and extreme heat. Following the panel, we will conduct an advocacy training for participants interested in meeting with legislators to educate them about asthma-related policy opportunities. We will conduct meetings with legislators later in the week.
