Online Asthma Education Center
To commemorate World Asthma Day, 2006, California Breathing, a joint project of the California Department of Health Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is pleased to announce the Beta Version of a new multimedia asthma education tool, the Asthma Education Center (AEC). The AEC is viewable at: //www.AsthmaEducationCenter.net. The content for this interactive site is strictly evidence-based and includes video, photographs, many links to resources for each topic covered, plus printable summaries of five main asthma segments (About Asthma; Causes and Triggers; Symptoms and Diagnosis; Treatment; and Prevention). The Asthma Education Center is designed primarily for use by the public and as an educational tool for some clinical settings. It must be viewed through Real Player, which is available for download on the site. In the future, California Breathing and partners hope to produce both a DVD version of the Asthma Education Center and a Spanish language version as well. Your opinions about the Asthma Education Center are important and can help shape its future! California Breathing invites your feedback, via a short survey that can be accessed at: //www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=590961993135. There is also a link to the survey on the AEC site. Based on the survey results and other evaluations, a new and improved version of the AEC will be produced, pending funding availability.
