Resource: California Breathing Asthma Data Source Book

California Breathing, a program of the California Department of Public Health, has released a comprehensive data source book on asthma entitled, The Burden of Asthma in California: A Surveillance Report. This report provides a comprehensive picture of the burden of asthma in the state and serves to provide a framework for asthma education, interventions, and policy in California. The report includes data on asthma rates by ethnicity, age, and county, and demonstrates how California compares to national goals. It also presents data on quality of life factors associated with asthma, the impact of asthma on school children, asthma in the workplace, and the presence of asthma risk factors including obesity and exposure to tobacco smoke.
