Becoming a Center of Excellence…A Two-Year Report from RAMP

In 2007 RAMP was awarded a five-year grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to serve as a Center of Excellence in the elimination of Disparities in Asthma. The purpose of the grant is to implement a comprehensive model of asthma management and prevention in order to reduce asthma disparities among African Americans and Latinos living in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area. This report is a summary of the strategic planning process that defines RAMP’s goal areas for the project. The report also includes first year evaluation surveys of stakeholders that indicate that as RAMP transitions from a focus on asthma to addressing the inequities that lead to health disparities, RAMP is effectively applying the majority of its core strategies.
