Napa County Asthma Coalition
Mission: To improve the quality of life for individuals in Napa affected by asthma through collaborative efforts of leadership, education, clinical practice, policy change and advocacy.
Vision: To become Napa County’s leader in affecting positive changes in respiratory health by creating the most breath-easy county in California.
The Napa County Asthma Coalition (NCAC) was formed in 2007 in response to the high rate of asthma in Napa County. The Coalition currently consists of representatives from Queen of the Valley Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente, Napa County Public Health, Napa County Office of Education, Napa Unified School District, Sustainable Napa County, Head Start, North Bay Asthma and Allergy, Healthy Buildings, Inc. and a local consumer of asthma health services.
Current Coalition efforts:
- Improving indoor air quality in the classroom through the California Teacher’s Association’s Healthy Air/Healthy Kids program
- Advocacy addressing indoor and outdoor air quality in Napa County
- Serving as asthma information resource
- Seeking collaboration with Napa groups that share similar objectives
- Establishing wider coalition to meet regularly beginning in May
The Napa County Asthma Coalition is fiscally sponsored by the Napa County Office of Education with grant funding by Queen of the Valley Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente and First Five.
