Formaldehyde Exposure and Asthma in Children: A Systematic Review

Though previous studies were not able to show consistent associations between formaldehyde and childhood asthma, a comprehensive literature review recently published in Environmental Health Perspectives found “a significant positive association between formaldehyde exposure and childhood asthma.” The study also concludes that, “given the largely cross-sectional nature of the studies underlying this meta-analysis, further well-designed prospective epidemiologic studies are needed.”  To read the review, click here.
