CDC Releases New Report on Asthma; Shows Rising Prevalence in Asthma Rates

A new report published by the Centers for Disease Control on World Asthma Day shows an increase in asthma rates despite efforts to reduce and eliminate common asthma triggers like exposure to second hand smoke, smoking cessation programs and improving air quality.  This report shows that asthma diagnoses have increased among all demographic groups during the period between 2001-2009 but African-American children have experienced the most dramatic spike with a 50 percent increase in asthma cases.  The CDC is unclear about what has caused this increase but have stated that their priority is proper asthma management.  To read the full report click here.
