RAMP shapes international recommendations on asthma
RAMP recently helped shape a position paper prepared by the Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Alliance and addressed to the representatives of the United Nations Member States and all others participating in the UN Summit on Non-Communicable Diseases, being held at UN Headquarters in New York in September 2011. The Alliance uses targeted advocacy and outreach to ensure that NCDs are recognized as a major cause of poverty, a barrier to economic development and a global emergency. We were proud to be asked to draft the section on asthma, which includes a brief overview of the problem particularly as it impacts children, as well as a range of solutions that countries and the international community can take to reduce the burden of the disease.
