In May of 2011 the National Nursing Centers Consortium, in collaboration with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, provided a free training for nurses, nursing students, and community health care professionals entitled Asthma & Environmental Education for Health Professionals.  This workshop was designed to address the impact of in-home environmental hazards on asthma and focused on the following:

• Utilizing Healthy Homes guidelines for asthmatic clients;
• Implementing environmental home assessments tailored for clinical settings; and

• Identifying environmental hazards that affect asthmatic patients.
